This is a video made by transition year students from Blackwater Community School, Lismore in Co Waterford. As part of the project, students conducted an energy audit of the school and discovered simple ways to save energy and promote energy awareness among students and staff alike.
With over 88% of schools in Ireland participating in the Green Schools
program, the key to change in the home may lie in the schools. So
children have been asked how they can bring their green school practices involving energy, waste, biodiversity, travel, etc. to
their homes.
The Green Home scheme, introduced by An Taisce in partnership with the EPA was brought to schools across Ireland for that purpose.
Parents attend meetings concerning environmental issues once a week. The initiative supports, advises and encourages households to reduce their impact on the environment and save money!
